AmeriCare Alliance™ referred Caregivers are helping to make that possible by doing the things you would do for them if you could. The big things, like assistance with housework and transportation. RESPITE CARE

What is Respite Care?
Respite refers to short-term, temporary care provided to people with disabilities or illnesses, so that their families can take a break from the daily routine of caregiving.

Respite Care Can Ease The Burdens of Family Caregivers.

Statistics show that approximately 52 million people, equaling 31% of the adult population, provide care for an elderly, disabled, or chronically ill friend or relative (Administration on Aging of the US Department of Health and Human Services, 1998). This report also showed the following:

21% of caregivers spend between five and ten
   hours a day providing care to a relative or friend
52% of caregivers reported that they sacrificed
   their own health while caring for their relative or
   friend
55% of caregivers reported making work-related
   sacrifices because of their caregiving duties

Respite Care to ease the burdens of family caregivers.

As these statistics show, primary caregivers often neglect their own needs and health to provide for others. Taking time out may feel selfish, but it is incredibly important to your health! Only through your own well-being can you continue to care for your loved one!

One of the important purposes of Respite Care is to give the primary caregivers free personal time and to temporarily relieve the stress that they may otherwise experience.

MATERNITY ASSISTANCE

Sharing time with your newborn baby should be an enjoyable experience! But with a complicated birth, a C-section, or siblings at home, it may seem overwhelming. With the help of an AmeriCare Alliance™ referred Caregiver, you will be able to spend quality time with your baby and the other children, strengthening your family bond. We will be there to provide some of the following services:

Post-operative Care for the Mother
Medication Reminders
Personal Care as Needed for the Mother
Meal Preparation
Light Housework
Transportation to Follow-up Appointments

Sometimes family and friends are unable to meet all of the transportation needs of loved ones. AmeriCare Alliance™ Referred Caregivers are able to help those in need of transportation.
